To: All Members of the South Salem Class of 1970
We truly appreciate all of you who have supported the efforts of our class to provide scholarships to deserving South Salem High School seniors. We have helped many students so far, but our contributions this year are lagging some even while the needs of graduating seniors are growing.
We have until April 30 to make contributions to the fund to count toward this year’s scholarship awards. Any of you contemplating or intending to contribute can still make donations and have them count toward this year’s awards. Please consider making a donation to help graduating South Salem seniors continue their educational journeys.
This year many of us amazingly enough turn 73! For some members of our class that will trigger the requirement for Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from retirement accounts. Contributions of RMDs directly to a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) are not counted as income to you which means that you avoid the tax consequences for the amount donated. The Saxon Success Fund is a qualifying 501c-3 non-profit and contributions to our Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund constitute qualifying QCDs.
Whether you utilize the RMD/QCD benefit or make a straight charitable donation please know that your contributions in any amount matter. Contributions should be made to the Saxon Success Fund and designated to go into the Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund. Donations made by check should be made payable to Saxon Success Fund and mailed to 1910 Church St. SE, Salem, Oregon 97302. Donations can also be made online through the Saxon Success Fund website at: saxonsuccessfund.org
Thanks much to everyone who has contributed already and thank you all for considering joining in our efforts. Go Saxons!
